The B visitor visa requirements were recently changed by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), making it possible for qualified household members of TN status holders to obtain B visas for admission to the United States. The B visa is issued to qualifying cohabitating partners, elderly parents and other household members outside the marital and parent-child relationship to the TN status holders.
Household members of a TN status holder are defined as individuals who have the same relationship with the TN non-immigrant as the immediate family members, and regularly live at the same place as the TN non-immigrant. The B visa provides opportunity for household members not qualifying for TD visa to enter the U.S. provided that the TN non-immigrant maintains the TN status.
