FY 2012 H1B CAP Numbers are Still Available

The most recent H1B Cap update from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) indicates that they have received 20,000 cases towards the H-1B Master’s Exemption. This means that there are no more H-1B Master’s Exemption numbers left for FY 2012. The new report indicates that 56,300 H-1B regular Cap cases have been received, leaving only 8,700 regular Cap numbers for FY2012. The amount of cases received this week increased significantly over previous weeks. If H-1B petitions continue to be submitted at the current rates, the FY2012 H1B Cap could be filled around the end of November. This places additional urgency on employers seeking foreign specialty workers. Failure to secure a FY2012 H-1B Cap number could mean that the employee will have to wait until October 1, 2012 to begin work.
