April 20, 2011

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) continues to accept H-1B nonimmigrant petitions that are subject to the fiscal year FY2012 cap. FY2012 began on April 1, 2011 and at the current rate the H-1B cap could last into 2012. USCIS provides regular updates petitions counting against the H-1B cap of 65,000 and the 20,000 U.S. master’s degree or higher cap exemption. As of April 19, 2011, USCIS has received approximately 7,100 H-1B petitions counting toward the 65,000 cap, and approximately 5,100 petitions toward the 20,000 cap exemption for individuals with advanced degrees. If you are in need of an H-1B visa for an employee in a specialty occupation, the cap is still available. Contact us today for a free assessment of your U.S. immigration needs.
