How Many Times Can a TN Visa Be Renewed?

The TN visa can be renewed without limit. You can renew your TN status up to six (6) months before it expires and as often as every year. The TN visa has a validity of up to three (3) years and is renewable for an unlimited amount of times, but the approval of the renewals is not guaranteed.  It’s important that your application for TN renewal be as properly prepared as your initial TN application. During the TN renewal process, you must be prepared to properly present the following:

  1. Proof of Canadian citizenship
  2. A properly written offer letter from TN employer
  3. Supporting evidence to prove completion of education to qualify for TN profession
  4. Previous or current support letters from TN employer
  5. Proof of non-immigrant intent and permanent ties to Canada

Most TN applications are denied due to failure of applicants to properly prepare and include supporting documents in their TN applications. TN applications are denied if the inspecting officer finds inconsistencies with the applications. Denials are often corrected by providing the lacking or missing documents. In cases where applicants seek entry to the U.S. under the wrong TN profession, denials are more difficult to correct.

We have successfully helped many Canadian citizens obtain their initial TN status, TN status extensions, TN status renewals and TN status re-application after denials. Contact us today for a free assessment of your TN immigration matters.
