Protecting U.S. Workers from Discrimination and Combat Fraud

Protecting U.S. Workers from Discrimination and Combat Fraud

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Department of Justice announced an expansion in their collaboration to better detect and eliminate fraud, abuse, and discrimination by employers bringing foreign visa workers to the United States. This joint effort will improve the way information is shared between agencies in an effort to provide further protections for U.S. workers and combat discrimination and fraud.

The joint effort will increase the ability of the agencies to share information and help identify, investigate, and prosecute employers who may be discriminating against U.S. workers and/or violating immigration laws.

This initiative further advances the goals established by the previously announced Buy American and Hire American Executive Order and promote the economic interests of U.S. workers. As a part of this effort, USCIS has created dedicated tip lines for reporting H-1B and H-2B visa fraud and abuse and expanded its site visit programs.

The complete details of this joint effort can be found here.

If you employ or will be employing foreign workers, it is imperative that you comply with all U.S. immigration laws. Contact Richards and Jurusik to speak with a licensed U.S. Immigration Lawyer today.
