Geologists study the solid and liquid matter constituting the earth, and the history and processes shaping it. They focus their study more on applied science rather than the theoretical science by using chemistry, biology, physics, biology and other sciences. Some Geologists are more exposed to the outdoors than performing their activities in the lab. They are often engaged in mining companies’ exploration for oils, metals, and other resources on earth. They can also be involved in providing warnings for general public about natural hazards and disasters by studying volcanic activities, earthquake, weather storms, tsunamis, and the like.
As the ones who know the history of earth processes and activities, Geologists are often engaged in climate change discussions. They may work for government agencies, academic and non-profit organizations or private firms. Some other potential job titles of Geologist are Project Geologist, Geophysicist, Mine Geologist, Environmental Protection Geologist, Exploration Geologist, Hydrogeologist, Geological Specialist, Engineering Geologist and Geoscientist.
