TN Management Consultant

A Management Consultant, with expertise in analyzing and with skills acquired from extensive training, provides objective advice to maximize the growth and improve the business performance of clients.   A consultant is typically concerned with strategy, management, structure and operations of an organization. He/she identifies options through recommendations, provides additional resources or implements solutions to help clients’ businesses perform at their best.

Operating across a broad range of services, the Management Consultant possesses skills in business strategy, human resources, marketing, e-business operations, supply-chain management and information technology. Some other potential titles of Management Consultant are Business Analyst, Management Analyst, Employment Programs Analyst, Administrative Analyst, Quality Control Analyst and Program Management Analyst.

To qualify for TN Management Consultant non-immigrant status, the applicant for Management Consultant profession must have earned, and is able to provide proof of the following educational requirements:

  1. Baccalaureate or Licenciatura Degree; OR
  2. Equivalent professional experience as established by statement or professional credential attesting to five years experience as a management consultant, OR
  3. Five years experience in a field of specialty related to the consulting agreement

The applicant for TN Management Consultant profession must also provide the additional requirements:

  1. Proof of Canadian citizenship;
  2. A detailed support letter from prospective employer;
  3. Proof of intent to return to his/her permanent residence in Canada at the expiration of the temporary TN stay

If the applicant is able to provide evidence of the requirements enumerated above, he/she may qualify for TN Management Consultant professional status.

A qualified Management Consultant can obtain TN Professional status for a maximum of three years. Any extension of the status may be issued for up to one year provided that the individual continues to comply with the requirements for TN professionals. The number of extensions has no limit. However, the professional must continue to demonstrate that his/her employment is temporary in nature, and that his/her NAFTA entry is not used to bypass normal procedures of immigration.
