When determining your qualifications for a TN Visa it is important to understand the requirements under the USCMA (NAFTA). The TN Visa education requirements are very specific. In general, you must possess the specific qualifications as listed for the TN Visa profession you are applying under.
TN Visa Certificates and Diplomas
- Post Secondary Diploma – Under the USMCA (NAFTA) a “Post Secondary Diploma” means a credential issued, on completion of two (2) or more years of postsecondary education, by an accredited academic institution in Canada or the United States.
- Post Secondary Certificate – Under the USMCA (NAFTA) “Post Secondary Certificate” means a certificate issued, on completion of two or more years of postsecondary education at an academic institution, by the federal government of Mexico or a state government in Mexico, an academic institution recognized by the federal government or a state government, or an academic institution created by federal or state law.
- A Certificate or Diploma under the USCMA (NAFTA) must be in the field of study or in a closely related field, i.e., A TN Visa Computer Systems Analyst must have a certificate or diploma in computer science or a field closely related to computer science.
- Certificates and Diplomas from outside North America (U.S., Mexico, and Canada) DO NOT meet TN Visa education requirements. They will not accept Certificates or Diplomas from India, Pakistan, or any other Country outside of North America.
