A Landscape Architect plans, designs and manages land projects to provide innovative and aesthetically pleasing environment for highways, airports, parks and other recreational facilities, hospitals, gardens, land subdivisions, schools, and commercial, industrial, and residential sites. The Landscape Architect ensures that the changes being made to the natural environment are appropriate and sustainable.
The work of a Landscape Architect covers diverse projects for both rural and urban lands. He/She collaborates closely with the landscape contractors and other professionals involved in the projects such as planners, architects, environmentalists and engineers. Some other titles of Landscape Architect are Land Planner, Project Manager, Golf Course Architect, Landscape Designer, Planner and Designer.
To qualify for a TN Visa as a Landscape Architect, the applicant for the TN visa must have earned, and is able to provide proof of the following educational requirements:
1. Baccalaureate or Licenciatura Degree
The applicant for a TN Visa as Landscape Architect must also provide the additional requirements:
- Proof of Canadian citizenship;
- A detailed support letter from prospective employer;
- Proof of intent to return to his/her permanent residence in Canada at the expiration of the temporary TN Visa stay
If the applicant is able to provide evidence of the requirements enumerated above, he/she may qualify for a TN Visa as a Landscape Architect.
A qualified Landscape Architect can obtain TN Visa Professional status for a maximum of three years. Any extension of the status may be issued for up to three years provided that the individual continues to comply with the requirements for TN Visa professionals. The number of extensions has no limit. However, the professional must continue to demonstrate that his/her employment is temporary in nature, and that his/her NAFTA entry is not used to bypass normal procedures of immigration.
