Zoologists study the origin, habits, developmental stage, habitats and behavior of animals, as well as animal genetics, processes and diseases. Trained to handle scientific researches in animals, Zoologists help to find treatments for animal diseases and develop solutions for problems like food supply. They study animals in their natural habitats, assess environmental effect on animals, interpret findings and recommend alternative operating conditions for wildlife population and habitat.
Zoologists may work in museums, universities, private companies, zoos or government agencies. They may also make an estimate or inventory of plant and wildlife populations, inform or respond to public about issues on wildlife conservation such as hunting ordinances and nuisance wildlife. Some other potential job titles of Zoologist are Fish and Wildlife Biologist, Wildlife Biologist, Fishery Biologist, Fisheries Biologist, Wildlife Manager, Assistant Research Scientist, Environmental Specialist, Aquatic Biologist and Conservation Resources Management Biologist.
To qualify for a TN Visa as a Zoologist, the applicant for the TN visa must have earned, and is able to provide proof of the following educational requirements:
- Baccalaureate or Licenciatura Degree
The applicant for a TN Visa as a Zoologist must also provide the additional requirements:
- Proof of Canadian citizenship;
- A detailed support letter from prospective employer;
- Proof of intent to return to his/her permanent residence in Canada at the expiration of the temporary TN Visa stay
If the applicant is able to provide evidence of the requirements enumerated above, he/she may qualify for a TN Visa as a Zoologist.
A qualified Zoologist can obtain TN Visa Professional status for a maximum of three years. Any extension of the status may be issued for up to three years provided that the individual continues to comply with the requirements for TN professionals. The number of extensions has no limit. However, the professional must continue to demonstrate that his/her employment is temporary in nature, and that his/her NAFTA entry is not used to bypass normal procedures of immigration.
