The United States of American, Mexico, and Canada finalized an agreement that will make, The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), The U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA). As it applies to Canadians working in the United States in TN visa status, the USMCA simply refers back to its predecessor NAFTA and the Appendix 1603.D.1 professions list. This means that that the USMCA has adopted the NAFTA Processions list and that there are no substantive changes for Canadians working in the United States. For both Canadians and Mexicans, it is business as usual. Canadians can continue to work under TN visa status in the United States and the procedures for obtaining a new TN visa and extending a TN visa remain the same.
It is expected that additional changes will be made under the USMCA over the next several months.
